It started with a crisis. A Craft crisis.

TDH founding partners saw large agencies underserving large clients with junior talent who were largely learning on the job. And they saw small agencies underserving small clients with past-their-prime talent who had largely stopped caring about the job.

Refusing to be trapped, the founders watched the classic movie The Great Escape and decided to tunnel out. The three tunnels in the movie, code-named “Tom, “Dick” and “Harry,” became Chicago’s newest agency moniker with a singular mission - to keep Craft Communications alive.

What is Craft? Craft is the great maximizer. Budgets, no matter the size, last longer and work harder when their brand is well-crafted and finds the best version of itself. At Tom, Dick & Harry Creative Co., our mission and our sole focus is to help clients craft their brands’ messaging so perfectly that they have the power to defy logic, overcome obstacles and win hearts.

20 years later, Tom Dick & Harry Creative Co.’s craft crusade is stronger than ever. We still believe that good ideas are not born, they are crafted. They are shaped and reshaped until they function properly. They require clients who know enough to care about the difference between good and bad, and they require creative craftspeople who care enough to know those who consume brands deserve the best.

Role Description:

At TDH, crafting isn’t limited to the creative team. We believe that the best account people exercise craft in forging rock-solid client relationships built on incredible dedication and trust, collaborating with internal teams and juggling myriad details with precision and grace. To this end, we’re looking for a “craft-minded” Account Executive.

This position will help manage one of TDH’s largest clients. It will report to an Account Director. Given TDH’s tremendous growth from new and existing clients, there will be ample opportunities for this person to grow in experience and responsibility on additional brands.

  • A true passion for advertising. The drive to go to incredible lengths to help create hard-working, awarding-winning campaigns. An eye for recognizing greatness when you see it. And the persuasiveness to help convince a client that well-crafted work will help grow their business.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of ad agency account management experience.
  • Familiarity with building client relationships, managing expectations and overseeing workflow.
  • Exposure (direct or indirect) to strategic initiatives, a partner to the Planning team.
  • A stickler for wide-ranging project management and production details, a master of timelines, a steward of budgets.
  • Experience with a broad range of communications channels – broadcast, digital, print, paid social, etc.
  • A working knowledge of production and talent implications.
  • A collaborator and partner within Tom Dick and Harry, and on occasion, among multiple agency client partners.
