How do you make the most out of a content shoot?

Not to brag, (well, kind of) but as an agency with in-house production capabilities, we’ve perfected the art of maximizing a content shoot. It’s one of the many reasons why we’ve been rocking and rolling since 2002, after all.
What exactly does it mean to maximize a content shoot?
Plain and simple: film days that are structured to produce a variety of deliverables. A.K.A., more bang for your buck.
Now, if you’re a new face to TDH, or even one of our existing clients, we’d like to take this opportunity to shed some light on how we do just that—and what sage advice we can share from our years of experience.
GOOOOOAL…sss!
The key first step for the pre-production stage is to set goals. We believe that coming to the table with a solid roadmap helps everyone avoid any hiccups or tears. Or both, which is an unpleasant physical sensation to have at once. Whether it’s scripts, storyboards and/or a shot list, detailed planning for all deliverables helps our team strategize the most effective way to utilize shoot time.
Cutdowns won’t cut it.
Footage for one deliverable can’t always be seamlessly reused for another. You can end up spending way less time and money by knocking out a few more pieces per shoot day than creating a cutdown Frankenstein later.
Make the most of every minute.
On set, we prefer to have certain processes happening in tandem where possible. For example, shooting video and photography at the same time allows for extra material to be captured at once. We often do this on shoots for our longtime client, Vi, capturing B-roll and photos to be used for later marketing needs. The same can be done for other deliverables, like behind-the-scenes footage and even social content. A shoot really is your oyster!
No corn mazes, please.
After wrapping, having an accessible and organized content library makes a huge difference. Post-production and the eventual handoff are easier (and, dare we say, peasier) when all the footage is in its right place. It also helps any future projects start out on the right foot.
Craft every step of the way.
Through our years of experience, we’ve had to learn to be nimble, efficient and accommodating throughout our production process. It’s the heart of what we value most: the craft.
Whatever we put our TDH stamp on, we always strive to provide our clients with proven, high-quality creative. We can’t help it. We’re craftspeople.
If you’re cooking up a big idea, let us help you see it through in the best way possible.
